Brain Mumbles

Maybe it's the rain, but my brain will not latch onto anything, not any one thing. What's a term for being tongue-tied with writing and/or photography? It feels like trying to say "goat snouts mouths" over and over quickly.

 Go ahead and try it.

That's what my brain feels like.

So the solution is to post nothing? Though I'm more likely to shoot off a "roll" of blah photos than I am to scribble random thoughts, I'm reluctant to post them.  So I just park myself in a corner and sulk.

It's been a year, yet I'm still a total beginner at this blogging thing.  My dear friend (and fabulous blogger)  Dee Dee recently reminded me that not every post needs to be "perfect."  Not every image needs a reason beyond my liking it.

I like this image

And not every word needs to be anything more than mine.

Maybe I just need to air out my thoughts--once the rain stops--take a deep breath . . . and admire some plant hairs.

I like this image too

  1. I like them, also. Blogs are journals we keep for ourselves but share with others. Every post won't be amazing, just like every day isn't amazing. Taking the pressure off to create a masterpiece with each post might help clear your head,or at least help to sweep out one corner. :o)

  2. Thanks so much, Tammy! It IS silly to pressure myself about something that is supposed to be fun. And it is fun when I just let go. Thank you for the support!

  3. I think that blogging is like throwing a snow ball down the hill. Sometimes it just sinks into oblivion, and sometime it grows bigger and bigger as it rolls.

Roll with it, sometimes you feel it, sometimes you don't.

    1. Thanks Jen. I really appreciate your support. It's the doing-it-when-I-don't-feel-like-it part that's so hard. But often that's when the most interesting (at least to me) stuff comes. Just have to keep reminding myself to show up. By the way, hope your back is doing better!

  4. I second Tammy's comments. This is basically a hobby, so you should write what you feel like writing. If it doesn't get a big reaction, so what? Maybe the next one will. Blogging is like gardening, it's basically something you do to please yourself. It's also something I think you get better at by practicing. By the way, I also like the photos - especially that first goat, who seems to be very quizzical.

    1. Thanks Jason! I need the reminder. The blog began as a place to get me to write again. And gardening is the one thing I do where I don't put any pressure at all on myself. Stuff lives and stuff dies. I do the best I can and leave the rest to Nature.
Our neighbors' goats are pretty funny. I almost caught that first one in one of her toothy smiles.

  5. I have yet to do a 'perfect' post three years into blogging. Blogging is about sharing a little of yourself and connecting with other gardeners. Just have fun!

  7. The tongue-tied thing is writer's block. But don't worry...some days I'd rather look at pictures of goat snouts mouths than read anything, anyway! Absolutely fabulous pictures!
